Contact Lens Accessories

When you get your lenses, it is very important to remember that you will need contact lens accessories. This doesn't mean the same thing as accessories for yours clothes, like matching shoes or jewelry. Contacts accessories are the additional things you need in order to protect your lenses (and your eyes).

When you take your lenses out you have to be sure you put them in a safe place, as they are very hard to see and if you just leave them on the sink or on your dresser they're hard to find and can get lost easily or if you're traveling and they have to be kept safe when not in use. There are storage cases that have been designed just for that purpose. (As a matter of fact, some are attractive enough to be considered accessories in the fashion sense).

The lenses have to be stored in a special solution as well as cleaned in a special solution, although there are very good multipurpose solutions. This is necessary to prevent bacterial growth and the possibility of eye infections which, unfortunately, are not uncommon if the contacts are not cleansed and stored properly.


Other interesting accessories that are not essential but are helpful to many people are lens applicators and removers. One of the advantages of these is not the actual procedure but the hygiene aspect, as the use of the eye applicator and remover prevents the fingers from touching the eye itself.
